Unacceptable wastes include hazardous and liquid wastes. Should you encounter these types of waste, you should consult with an authorised hazardous waste contractor to organise removal. The following is a (non-exhaustive) list of wastes that are not acceptable at Greenstar facilities:
Non-acceptable Wastes:
- WEEE (Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment): Refrigerators & Freezers
- Tyres
- Clinical Waste - Yellow, yellow with black band, blue bags or boxes. Syringes, needles, bandages can be contained in other waste types, bagged or loose, medical nappies
- Chemical Wastes: e.g., medicines, paints, insecticides, herbicides, white spirits, spray cans etc.
- Drums (over 25ltr capacity) Empty drums are permissible provided that they are clean, and open ended or the ends have been cut off
- Liquids
- Sludges
- Asbestos Products (Sheets or bagged) Except KTK Landfill where construction material containing asbestos can be accepted in accordance with the landfill directive provided it is double wrapped in heavy gauge plastic which is clearly labelled to indicate the presence of asbestos
- Pressurised Container Gas bottles or cylinders of any form
- Fluorescent tubes
- Batteries (Car or truck or a significant quantity of pocket size)
- Refrigerators & Freezers
- Fuel/Oil contaminated wastes
Waste Electrical and ELectronic Equipment (WEEE) can be accepted at our designated WEEE facilities, but should not be mixed in general skips.
