Neil Parkinson, Chief Executive
Neil Parkinson joined the company in summer 2008. Prior to joining us he was Chief Executive Officer of Irish Broadband, Ireland's leading wireless broadband provider. That business was focused on developing a national fixed wireless broadband network in a market where wireless broadband has achieved 16% market share. The company had over 50,000 subscribers and operates multiple wireless platforms. He has previously held the positions of Chief Executive, Chief Financial Officer and Chairman of Esat Group. Esat Group was the leading alternate telecommunication operator to the incumbent in the Republic of Ireland. The Esat Group was acquired by BT Group in 2000 for $2.4 billion. Mr. Parkinson holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Dublin and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. He is also a director of Jarvis Hotels Group.
Geoff Bailey, MD Waste Processing
Geoff joined Greenstar in November 1999 and in June 2000 was appointed Financial Controller. This role has developed over the years, and up until August 2008 Geoff carried the title of CFO, having been appointed to the Board in 2002. Following a recent reorganisation, wherein Greenstar Ireland now comprises two Strategic Business Units (SBU’s), Geoff has taken on the role of MD Waste Processing. This role incorporates all the Materials Recovery Facilities, Materials Trading, Mechanical Biological Treatment, Landfill and Landfill Gas through Greenstar’s subsidiary Bioverda Power Systems. Geoff retains certain activities performed within the CFO role such as negotiating and managing acquisitions and acquisition integration
Geoff qualified as a Chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen after reading Management Science and Industrial Systems Studies at Trinity College Dublin. He spent 7 years in Johannesburg, South Africa from 1992 to 2000 initially for 15 months with Andersen but then as Head of Finance with a mobile telephony start up operation, Radiospoor, before taking an FD role with a diversified investment holding company, Equity International.
Jerry Dempsey, MD Commercial Services
As Managing Director of Greenstar’s Commercial Services Division, Jerry is responsible for the delivery of recycling led solutions to over 25,000 business premises and 60,000 homes nationwide.
Jerry previously worked with United Drug plc where he has over seven years experience in various sales and marketing posts, both on a national and international level. Prior to that Jerry held various sales and marketing positions of increasing responsibilities with a range of pharmaceutical multinational companies.
Lisa Birthistle, Director of Human Resources
Lisa joined Greenstar over three years ago as HR Manager and was appointed Director in March 2008. She has over 13 years experience in Human Resources and has previously worked primarily in the IT and Banking sectors, mainly with Perot Systems, Bank of Ireland and Hewlett Packard.
She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from UCD and a Degree in Business Studies from the University of Ulster.
Eamonn Medley, Director of Business Development
Eamonn joined Greenstar in 2004 and heads up the Business Development function. Since joining Greenstar Eamonn has been involved in project work including the development of Millennium Park waste separation process, the development of a mixed dry recyclables line in Bray, the development of a mechanical biological treatment capability in Cork, numerous acquisitions, PPP projects, market research, industrial engineering and financial modelling of a number of Greenstar's waste separation processes.
In his present role, Eamonn has responsibility for new market developments in Northern Ireland and Eastern Europe, new technology evaluation, selection and implementation, and engineering project management in the areas of materials recycling, waste separation, mechanical and biological treatment of waste and waste to energy.
Prior to joining Greenstar Eamonn worked as an independent consultant and for a number of major American multinational companies both in Ireland and abroad in the areas of new product development, marketing, materials, ERP, quality management, process engineering and product engineering.
Eamonn holds an engineering degree and masters in science from the University of Limerick.
Chris Bell, Chief Financial Officer
Chris joined Greenstar in January 2003 as Group Financial Controller and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in August 2008. For his first two years in the company, Chris designed and implemented a group-wide ERP system that is now the core of all operational and reporting processes throughout the organisation.
Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Pannell Kerr Forster in 1989, Chris spend a number of years as the Financial Controller and then the General Manager of a sheet-metal manufacturing company and later 5 years as Finance Director of an electronic engineering company Keytech.
