Greenstar Announced as New Associate Sponsor of the 2005 AIB Irish Seniors Open
The AIB Irish Seniors Open, one of the most eagerly anticipated tournaments of the European Seniors Tour season, will be further enhanced in 2005 with the involvement of Greenstar as a new associate sponsor.
The AIB Irish Seniors Open, in association with Greenstar and Fáilte Ireland, will be staged from June 3-5, 2005, at The Heritage at Killenard in County Laois, where the Seve Ballesteros-designed championship course will test the cream of European Seniors Tour talent.
Andy Stubbs, Managing Director of the European Seniors Tour, said: "We are delighted to welcome Greenstar to the family of sponsors on the European Seniors Tour in what is one of the key events on our 2005 schedule.”
"We are thrilled with the commitment shown by Greenstar to this significant tournament and we hope that the profile we can bring them, both in Ireland and in Europe, will be beneficial. I am sure, also, that everyone associated with the company will enjoy the hospitality available at The Heritage during the week.”
"Furthermore, with this new level of support for the event we are also very positive about the prize fund and are hopeful of making an announcement to this effect in the near future."
Greenstar, Ireland's leading provider of integrated waste management solutions, has become associated with one of the premier events on the European Seniors Tour and Steve Cowman, Chief Executive of Greenstar, said "We are absolutely delighted that this association affords us an opportunity to engage and raise awareness with the key business decision-making community, which forms the core of our client base.”
"Along with AIB, who recently launched its guide for waste management and Fáilte Ireland, Greenstar looks forward to further promoting Ireland as a cleaner, greener destination for holiday and sport. Sponsoring this internationally acclaimed event further enhances Greenstar's commitment to industry and tourism through education, support and by raising awareness of environmental best practice ."
Billy Andrews, General Manager of AIB, said "AIB was instrumental with Failte Ireland in bringing this event to Ireland and we are now entering into our eighth year as title sponsor. A sure sign of the tournament's success is that a company with the caliber of Greenstar has come on board as associate sponsors. We look forward to working with Steve Cowman and his team in Greenstar and to the event itself at The Heritage Golf and Country Club in June."
Shaun Quinn, Chief Executive of Fáilte Ireland, the national tourism authority, commented: "We are delighted that the AIB Irish Seniors Open is to be further strengthened with the addition of Greenstar to the sponsors' roster. For Fáilte Ireland, the 2005 event is especially important as it is taking place in the Midlands, the heart of Ireland."
Mr Tom Keane, President and Proprietor of The Heritage, stated, "On behalf of The Heritage Group, I am delighted to welcome Greenstar's involvement as an associate sponsor of this highly prestigious event. We all look forward to working with Greenstar and our other event partners - AIB, Fáilte Ireland and The European Seniors Tour to ensure that the 2005 AIB Irish Seniors Open at The Heritage is a most successful and memorable tournament."
The 2005 champion will join an already impressive tournament Roll of Honour which includes last year's winner Carl Mason, who won the first of his four titles on his way to topping the European Seniors Tour Order of Merit for the second year in succession. The Englishman is one of five players who have won both the tournament and the Order of Merit, the others being Seiji Ebihara, Tommy Horton, John Morgan and Noel Ratcliffe.
