Greenstar to launch domestic waste services in Dublin
65,000 households in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council area to benefit
Greenstar, Ireland's leading waste management company, has today (6 August 2007) announced the expansion of its domestic waste and recycling services into Dublin in an investment worth €7.5 million over five years.
From this week, over 65,000 households in the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council area will be able to avail of Greenstar's service, which will include Dublin's first curbside glass collection and will offer householders up to 30% savings on their current waste costs. The Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council area covers a 125 sq. km area including Dundrum, Leopardstown, Blackrock, Clonskeagh and Sandyford and is currently serviced by the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and one private waste operator.
Named 2006 Large Recycler of the Year by Repak, Greenstar now operates domestic waste and recycling services in seven counties in Ireland, including launching a service in Cork in February this year. The new Dublin service will be supported by Greenstar's Mixed Recycling Facility (MRF) in Co. Wicklow, where Greenstar has operated a domestic waste and recycling service for the past five years.

Consumers are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their waste needs and require a competitive and hassle free service as well as one that allows them to maximise the recycling they can do and minimise the amount of waste going to landfill. Greenstar's new service will South Dublin will mean an end to trips to the bottle bank for households availing of the area's first home glass collection service and offers 50% more recycling collections per month and lower costs than other competitors in the area."
Dun Laoghaire Rathdown householders can avail of Greenstar's service for a yearly charge of €56 plus €2.80 per lift and €0.175 per kg. Green bins will be collected twice a month and glass will be collected once a month at a charge of €5 per lift.
